Headbounce at the Celebration Barn
The Celebration Barn Theater is one of my favorite places in the whole world. It’s an absolute hotspot for variety performance in the US, where they present unique shows and teach incredible workshops throughout the summer.
This year, Chloe Walier and I were invited to headline their annual Big Barn Spectacular fundraising show. We put up a new duo routine, she walked on bottles and hula hooped, and I performed a few of my pieces… including this little number below.
I’ve been working on my headbounce technique for a few years now, and it’s finally getting to the point where I can reliably put it on stage. This little routine – finishing with an old Soviet headbounce apparatus known as the Borzykine Pole – was workshopped in performance at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival a few weeks beforehand.
I’m proud of this routine and the work I’ve put into developing the technique – I hope you enjoy it, too!
